A Robotic Life

This game is something special to me. I made this game over the course of about a year (very on and off). It's a dialogue heavy game, so if you don't like reading, its probably not for you. But I like to think that I explore some heavy themes using the medium of a video game- things like depression, social anxiety, regret, and loneliness.

The basic premise: You're a college-aged "robot" who struggles to make friends! Help the robot navigate the ins and outs of socializing so that he can have the friends he's always dreamed of having! There are tons of decision based dialogues, each of which impact the game a certain way. Will you be doomed to be a friendless loser, or will you finally make it?

Featuring all your favorite oversimplified stereotypes! Stacy, Chad, Becky, Pepe, Coomer, Zoomer, Boomer, Doomer, Redditor, and more quirky characters that completely represent real life! 

Features 14 NPCs, tons of unique cutscenes, and 16 unique (shitty) soundtracks that I made. Total gameplay lasts around 6 hours. There is a working save load system as well.

Built using Unity and Yarn Spinner (btw huge shoutout to yarn spinner for being the best dialogue managing system ever!). For more nerd info on how this was made, check the github repo of the entire game xD

Note: I tried to test for bugs but there will inevitably probably be some gamebreaking shit that I missed. In case that happens and you still wanna see the rest of the game, watch the playthrough below.

Not that you shoudl listen to them :P but I just wanted to talk over some challenges I faced while trying to make my first ever 2D RPG style game.
